As we were running early we rang ahead to see if we could pitch early. It wasn’t, but as we were ‘phoning before pitch departure time this was not unexpected. When we arrived, still earlier than the stated arrival time we were greeted by reception staff as if we were family and this was only our second holiday here. After arriving at our pitch, a member of staff (the ever present, friendly and helpful Barry) was around to see if everything was to our liking and provide some guidance as to prevailing winds so as to best orientate our tent in what turned out to be a well sheltered pitch.
The site as usual was in excellent order, the showers in the block nearest to us (Badger field) were perfectly controllable and clean. The only criticism would be that the water from the showers seemed to spill out onto the toilet cubicle floors, a minor issue. Fridges and freezers area also available for use in the toilet/shower blocks.
The bar was reasonably priced with a good selection of ciders, ales and wines. The food was of reasonable pub standard and price.
There is a small indoor swimming pool, but can’t comment on this as we did not use it… what I can say is that there was always people in there so it must be ok. It gets a thorough clean at the end of every day.
The children’s play area is revamped, but as our kids are older now we did not use the facility.
There was ample space to exercise our dog, located in a separate field on site away from the main camping fields.
Given the central location in Cornwall, places such as Gweek, Helford, Penzance, Newquay, Falmouth and the expansive beaches of Hayle were all within approximately a 30 minute drive.
All in all a superb site with friendly staff willing to go the extra mile to accommodate your needs and all in a great location for exploring Cornwall.
